As a Production Manager you are responsible for production, packaging, and maintenance operations to achieve customer, safety, environmental and quality requirements at our Kokkola plant. You are the line manager for three supervisors in packaging, maintenance and production operations. You also have two direct reports in non-supervisory positions in logistics and project engineering. The core purpose of your role could be summed up as making sure the flow of incoming raw material and outgoing final product is in balance and that the plant stays in operation 24/7 regardless of planned or unplanned maintenance breaks or other events. Co-operation, teamwork and stakeholder collaboration are the cornerstones of our success and in this role you manage through others.

You oversee and coordinate the big picture; you are responsible for resource allocation so that each shift has a sufficient amount of seniority at any given time and together with the maintenance supervisor you plan ahead for the bi-weekly maintenance stops and when needed, include external maintenance partners as well. Safety is a top priority in our daily operations, and you are responsible for the adherence to rules and regulations and you’ll have the support of the entire HSEQ team as well. You liaise closely with internal logistics and you report directly to the Manufacturing Director and will be his ‘second in command’, including filling in for him during vacation or other absence.

Your supervisory role includes administrational tasks from vacation planning to implementing policies and conducting performance reviews. Our HR will provide you with support and guidance in all employment lifecycle related matters and you do not have to be a master in employment contracts or CBAs, however you will be asked to join in on conversations including union representatives, for example. While your role does not have an international scope as such, you will be in contact with our office in Helsingborg, Sweden when necessary.

We are looking for a strong leader and advocate of teamwork. While we appreciate a background in the chemical industry, you can also come from process engineering, manufacturing or any other suitable industrial surrounding. Experience and understanding from end-to-end manufacturing or production process and supervisory work would be considered as strong assets to have. First and foremost we value curiosity, seeing change as a possibility and the willingness to learn and to develop processes and ways of working. You succeed in this position by being able to make decisions, challenging the status quo, influencing others, and raising questions.

A Master’s degree in engineering would be your preferred academic background but, depending on your overall skill set and experience, may not be a non-negotiable requirement. We do expect you to have prior experience from an industrial production facility and any other skills, for example, in automation, maintenance or supply chain could bring added value to the position. We are a global organization headquartered in Texas, US and as such we expect fluency in Finnish and English both written and spoken.

In this role, a professional of your background and capability is able to both utilize everything you have learned so far and also learn take your expertise to a higher level. The role is permanent, full time and your job site is in Kokkola. No travelling is required in this role, but we do expect you to be in Kokkola for most days; remote work is possible on separately agreed upon dates.
